Abstract

To anticipatenational shortages of soybean, but still consider the ecological balance, the biofertilizer technology packages “Technofert” containing arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi (AMF) need tobe considered. This research aimed to examine responses of four soybean varieties to application of AMF inoculant, by conducting a field experiment designed according to Split Plot Design, with two treatment factors and three replications. Soybean varieties were placed as the main plot, consisting of four varieties, i.e.Anjasmoro, Argomulyo, Wilis, and Burangrang, while techniques of AMF application as the sub-plots, consisting of five treatments, i.e. as seed coating (M1), in the planting hole (M2), on therow (M3), atthe time of tillage (M4), andwithout application of mycorrhizal (M0). The results showed that Anjasmoro, followed by Argomulyo and Willis, were the most responsive soybean varieties to mycorrhizal application. Application of AMF inoculant during soil tillage was better than application in rows, which was better than inplanting holes and seedcoating, in improving growt hand yield of soybean. Soybean responses to AMF application techniques were dependent on the variety of soybean. Wilis was highly responsive to AMF application, especially application during soil tillage, compared with other treatments, but the highest yield was shown by Grobogan and Anjasmoro varieties with the application of AMF in the planting hole.
